Winter Musings

The first sting of winter is in the air. Dark, full clouds hang waiting there. The icy chill makes me shiver Around me, nature starts to wither.
Leaves underfoot once high and proud Are slowly covered by their white shroud; A cover while they return to earth And spring comes forth with their rebirth.
Now a world both grey and light Comes to shorten day and lengthen night We may be plagued with a sense of woe And hate the coming return of snow.
But just think of the beautiful sight Of snow sparkling in the light. Like tiny diamonds on the ground And nights with still quiet the only sound.
There is beauty in that silence Or in evergreens flourishing in defiance. Even as we dread howling nights And pull our coats around us, tight.
So I hope you’re able to find a reason To enjoy this next upcoming season. Or at least grin, bear, and get through Until the warmth returns to you.
